Meet Ja-Nee' Mooney, Belong's Director of Care Management and resident of Lewiston, Idaho. Lewiston is located on the western edge of Idaho, nestled between the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. This is why much of Ja-Nee's downtime is spent outside hiking, backpacking, or fly fishing. As a Registered Nurse, she has spent most of her career caring for those who need the most care. Learn more about Ja-Nee's life, inside and outside of work.
What led you to this career or to Belong?
Like many of my fellow nurses, I chose this profession because I wanted to make a positive impact on people's lives. The range of opportunities that come with being a nurse has allowed me to serve others in numerous meaningful ways from direct patient care, to nursing leadership, to roles that have allowed me to influence patient care and healthcare policy. I love making connections with others. I am passionate about understanding each person's unique story, meeting people where they are, and providing unwavering support throughout their journey— either through direct patient care or in my role as a nurse leader. Belong’s mission to deliver kinder, smarter care to vulnerable populations was what initially intrigued me about the company. I was even more excited about Belong as I learned about our focus on behavioral science as a way to help meet members wherever they are in their healthcare journey. I think the whole person view is often missing from health care today.
What kinds of activities energize you?
Outdoor activities have always rejuvenated me. Any chance I get, I will spend time in the mountains— hiking, backpacking, fly fishing, snowshoeing, or at the beach playing in the sand. Occasionally, I am lucky enough to do this in an exotic location like my favorite vacation spot, Kauai. However, the North Fork of the Clearwater River is practically in my backyard here in the Pacific Northwest and is one of my favorite places to enjoy a plethora of outdoor activities.
What's something—big or small—that you're really good at?
I wouldn’t say I am “really good”, but I am pretty good at the Sunday New York Times Crossword puzzle 😊
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family (especially my two grandchildren), playing board games (Exploding Kittens, anyone?), going to the gym, watching Jeopardy and reading all different genres with cozy mysteries being my go-to for downtime.
